As increasingly diverse teams work together on projects chat has become an essential tool for sharing information and performing tasks
Unfortunately, most teams must rely on chat applications that exist separate from the tools they use for managing their projects. This often leads to information getting lost about tasks as it resides outside meaningful context and mixed in with dozens of other conversations that may happen throughout a typical workday.
While replacing modern chat applications is a tall order the latest preview release introduces the first step towards that goal by implementing a basic chat widget.
Accessible via the top navbar each project has its own dedicate chat room that users in that project can join to engage in general conversations about that project
Additionally, users can create ticket-specific chats to further narrow the scope of the discussion and improve their ability to locate it in the future.
Going forward we hope to grow the chat feature into something more robust with tighter integration into the project to help improve workflows and knowledge retention. An early example of this is how the user is able to see the ticket while participating in a ticket-specific chat.
This feature is available today for all installs.
